Paint

My painterly pieces rely on the development of colour, tonality and layering. I work in thin layers of colour on paper or canvas and build brush marks in changing sizes, direction and colour. Overlaps create new tones and the white of the paper or canvas beneath gives the work space to breathe. Most recently I have been including needlework to add additional depth. I envision each marking as a building block to the overall composition of an individual life. As such I mix small batches of paint to encourage variation in tone and embrace any imperfections in application.
